CHILDRENS MINISTRY SERVING ROLES
The Childrens Ministry at Grace is comprised of the Sunday School Teachers, Wednesday Night Teachers, Vacation Bible School Coordinators and Helpers.

Children's Church Team Leader
Service Purpose: Children learn about God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit through age appropriate curriculum, and are encouraged and supported in their spiritual development and Christian education.

Responsible to: Pastor
Service Blessing: You will directly impact a child’s life by providing nurturing Christian education.
Skills/Gifts Needed: A love for children & teaching, teaching skills, helps, service, compassion, patience, reliability.
Time Commitment:
Training Needed: Annual training with Director of Children’s SS (2 hours), background clearance, Safe Sanctuary (1 hr)
Length of Service: Team teacher: late August-May
Summer substitute teacher: teach 1, 2 or 3 times
Number of servants needed for this role: Unlimited
Sunday School Teacher (Team Teacher)
Service Purpose: Children learn about God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit throughage appropriate curriculum, and are encouraged and supported in their spiritual development and Christian education.
- Responsibilities: Prepare lesson for the children, using pre-selected curriculum.
- Be present on Sunday mornings from 9:30 to 10:30 am
- Monitor and track attendance.
- Assist the Sunday School Coordinator as needed.
- Encourage the children in their lessons and activities.
- Substitute teacher during the summer, same class/ages

Training Needed: Annual training with Director of Children’s SS (2 hours), backgroundclearance, Safe Sanctuary (1 hr)
Length of Service: Team teacher: late August-May

Wednesday Night Children’s Program
Program Director
Service Purpose: Organize and administrate the children’s Wednesday evening ministry so that children of all ages will have an opportunity to learn about being a Christian and to develop their faith.
- Responsibilities: Recruit and train Wednesday evening teachers, substitute teachers
- Monitor and track attendance
- Assist teachers as needed.
- Work with administration to select curriculum.
- Order curriculum and classroom materials for the teachers.
- Communicate Wednesday events to the communications director.
Responsible to: Pastor
Service Blessing: You will create an positive, supportive learning environment for children that will foster their understanding of and relationship with God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit.
Skills/Gifts Needed: Organization, administration, good communication skills, a love for children, helps, service
Time Commitment: Attendance weekly during Sunday School hour, quarterly meetings with Sunday School teachers, beginning/end of year celebrations
Training Needed: Annual Ministry Leadership Training (4 hrs), meet with Pastor as needed, Safe Sanctuary (1 hr), background clearance
Number of servants needed for this role: 1-2
Wednesday Night Children’s Program
Teacher
Service Purpose: Teach children about God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit through
age appropriate curriculum, encouraging and supporting them in their spiritual development and Christian education.
Responsibilities: Prepare lesson for the children, using curriculum.
Monitor and track attendance.
Encourage the children in their lessons and activities.
Responsible to: Self-directed; input from Pastor/Council

Christian education.
Skills/Gifts Needed: A love for children, teaching skills, helps, service, compassion,
patience, reliability.
Time Commitment: Attendance weekly on Wednesday evening, preparation
for teaching (~ 30 minutes)
Training Needed: Annual training with Wednesday Children’s Program Director (1 hr),
Safe Sanctuary (1 hr), background clearance

VBS Team Leader
Service Purpose: Teach children about God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit throughage appropriate curriculum during the summer VBS week.
- Responsibilities: Select VBS program.
- Recruit and train VBS helpers and teachers.
- Prepare lesson for the children, using curriculum.
- Work with the Communications Team & Marketing Team to promote
- Create and mail invitations; Encourage children to invite friends
Responsible to: Pastor

Skills/Gifts Needed: A love for children, teaching skills, organization skills, compassion, patience, reliability.
Time Commitment: Planning time, attendance during week, train helpers
Training Needed: Annual training with staff

VBS Teacher

- Responsibilities: Assist the Team Leader and teachers as needed.
- Help with arts and crafts.
- Attend VBS as needed..
Responsible to: VBS Team Leader
