WELCOMING MINISTRY

The Welcming Ministry exists to ensure that every person who enters Grace UMC experiences a warm atmosphere of Christian love.

The Ministry includes members and leaders of the Visitation Team, Ushers, Greeters, and Hospitality.

Welcoming Ministry Serving Roles

Visitation Team Leader
Service Purpose: Demonstrate God’s love by offering follow-up after a guest visits Grace for the first time.

• Responsibilities: Recruit and train team members.
• Create and maintain the visitation schedule; deliver to Church
• Office Administrator.
• Collect red friendship pads, tear out sheets, complete visitors log.
• Visit 1st time visitors by Monday evening following worship; deliver
• visitor’s packet.
• Follow up in writing and/or phone calls to invite again to Grace.
• Inform and invite FTV to small group events, Sunday school, special events.
• Plan and organize Newcomer Luncheons with Pastor.
• Meet with the team members as needed.

Responsible to: Pastor

Service Blessing: You can use your gifts of hospitality to demonstrate God’s love toothers.

Skills/Gifts Needed: Hospitality, cheerful heart, a love for people and welcoming guests.

Time Commitment: Sunday worship attendance, time to visit guests, meeting with Pastor.

Training Needed: Meet with Pastor

Number of servants needed for this role: 1

Number of servantsneeded for this role: 1

Head Greeter
Service Purpose: Show the love of Christ by greeting and welcoming church family and newcomers to worship services and other activities.

• Responsibilities: Recruit and train team members.
• Create and provide a greeter schedule.
• 20 minutes prior to worship service/special events and greet
  guests.
• Communicate any collected information about guests to Church
• Administrator/Pastor.

Responsible to: Pastor

Service Blessing: You can use your gifts of hospitality to demonstrate God’s love toothers.

Skills/Gifts Needed: Hospitality, friendly disposition, warm smile

Time Commitment: Sunday morning worship arrive at 8:20 and/or at 10:25, be present at special events

Training Needed: Meet with Pastor (30 minutes)

Number of servants needed for this role: 1

Greeters
Service Purpose: Guests receive a warm welcome and smile expressed in Christian kindness.

• Responsibilities: Arrive promptly at 8:10 am or at 10:25 am to greet guests
• Hand out bulletins as guests/members enter

Responsible to: Head Greeter

Service Blessing: You can give a smile and greeting to others to show God’s love.

Skills/Gifts Needed: Smile, friendly demeanor, willing heart

Time Commitment: 25 minutes on Sunday morning (8:10 to 8:35 am & 10:25 to 10:50 am)

Training Needed: 15 minutes

Number of servants needed for this role: Unlimited

Hospitality
Service Purpose: Show hospitality to guests and church family.

• Responsibilities: Prepare and serve coffee and food snacks on Sunday morning in the welcoming area (Hospitality Center)
• Recruit people to bring nutritious snacks.

Responsible to: Self-directed

Service Blessing: Use your love of hosting and hospitality to welcome others.

Skills/Gifts Needed: Hospitality

Time Commitment: ~10 minutes per week for set-up on Sunday morning

Training Needed: 10 minutes
